The main administrative
building is approximately 37,815 square feet and is a modern, state-of-the-art
training and education facility. A portion of the second floor is
dedicated to office space for Center staff and personnel assigned
from the partnering agencies for facilitation of academy and in-service
training. The remaining square footage is dedicated to special use
and general use classrooms.
Each classroom
is equipped with complete multi-media features such as LCD projectors,
ELMO, video, and computer interfaces for modern presentations. Each
classroom also has full network connectivity. Two large tiered classrooms
are capable of seating up to 160 students and there are nine smaller
rooms capable of seating 24-40 students each. There are two conference
rooms for meetings and special activities and a dedicated resource
room for instructors to research and prepare instructional material.
In addition,
a 20-station computer lab was designed for students to attend a variety
of courses ranging from basic desktop applications to advanced courses
such as Internet Crimes Against Children and Forensic Data Recovery.
Recruits in the Fire and Law Enforcement Basic Academies use the computer
lab to learn agency specific records management and report writing
systems.
The Center has
a dedicated distance education classroom capable of hosting teleconferences
and semester courses across the Nevada State Network to multiple satellite
locations Statewide. The facility has a fully functional chemical
lab with the latest features to provide safe, hands-on training in
areas such as Hazardous Materials, Clandestine Drug Labs, Photography,
Fingerprint recovery, and other scientific methods of crime scene
evidence collection.
